Heidelberg is a relic of German Romanticism. The city of about 100,000 people was the center of that movement during the later half of the 1700's, and thankfully the city survived the bombings of the wars of the 20th century. It is neither a transportation hub or an industrial center, but with it's preserved 18th century flavor, the old town and the castle above put Heidelberg on the map. The picturesque location in a valley along the Neckar river only contribute to the city's reputation as the jewel of Germany. This is Heidelberg, through my lens, in Fall colors.
