Winnipeg
Winnipeg, is a city of character. If you don't embace it, it gets the best of you. Our cold winter, our flat land, and the blood sucking mosquitoes. But there is warmth here, creativity and color beneath the grit. It’s a love hate kind of thing with this city and its citizens.
Historically, Winnipeg has been an important crossroads for over a millennia. It’s growth as a city came between 1890 and 1920 when it was North America’s boomtown, a transportation powerhouse at the geographical center of the continent. It was thanks to this era that Winnipeggers enjoy such a large collection of turn of the century architecture, from the many warehouses in the exchange district to the neoclassical, irreplaceable, Legislature building.
With its often abrasive character and quirks, there’s still something redeeming about this place. Deep down, once you embrace this character, you fall in love with it.
