On the River Danube lies Ulm, a small city with a medieval German character. The most notable sight of the city is the Ulm Munster, the tallest church in the world and a testament to the incredible dedication of man to architecture (or God, rather). This amazing structure, that you would expect in Paris, Rome or even Munich, somehow was built over centuries of work in such a moderately sized city. Mind-blowing. The foundation began in 1377, and the final steeple wasn't completed until 513 years later. Never heard of Ulm? Well, you've heard of Albert Einstein. He was born here in 1879, 11 years before the church was completed. Just an hour from where I was living, Ulm made the perfect day trip on a sunny Sunday morning. Here are the captures.
